About the Department

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering established in the year 1992, has a long-standing tradition of excellence. Electrical and Electronics Engineering department offers B.Tech.in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.Tech.in EEE with specialization in Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle Technology and PhD programs. The department is multi-disciplinary with faculty expertise ranging from power electronics, power systems, embedded systems, control systems, and applied electronics. The department regularly organizes activities and events to enhance the quality of education and upgrade the skills of faculty and students.The department has well established laboratories as well as good infrastructure to carry out research.

B Tech (EEE) is accredited by National Board of Accreditationfor impartingHighest Quality of Education in India.

The department strives to develop as a centre of excellence in R&D in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The department has one ongoing International funded project in collaboration with University of Leeds, UK and Royal Academy of Engineering, UK. In addition, the department has 9 Funded Research and consultancy projects worth 2.0 crores from major National funding agencies. Six patents are granted and four patents are published by our faculty. We provide innovative solutions to industries and focus on innovative product development.

In the recent years, the development of new technologies like electric vehicle, smart grid, nanotechnology applications, have opened numerous opportunities to electrical engineers. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a major contributor in the field of mechatronics, sophisticated smart vehicles and manufacturing sector. Electrical engineers can contribute to the interdisciplinary areas that require blending of mechanical engineering, control engineering, computer engineering, communications and electronics. The future developments in the industry are also predicted to be along the similar lines.

B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) offers balanced modules of Electrical, Electronics, Control and Telecommunications supported by basic units in analysis, software and engineering sciences. B Tech (EEE) is accredited by National Board of Accreditation for imparting Highest Quality of Education in India. The department facilitates 100% internship and placement through MOUs and collaboration with reputed industries. The Department promotes research in the areas of Smart Grid, Electric Vehicle and Green Energy. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control and small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits.

Regular Entry
  • Passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the other subjects as Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational course.
  • The candidates should have obtained the minimum marks as per AICTE norms.
Lateral Entry
  • The candidates possessing a Diploma in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline of specialization with minimum 50% marks awarded by the State Boards of Technical Education, India or any other competent authority as accepted by the Board of Management of the Institute as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to the 3rd Semester of the B. Tech degree programme.
  • The candidate has to fulfil all the prescribed admission requirements / norms of the Institute.
  • In all matters relating to admission to the B. Tech degree programme, the decision of the Board of Management of the Institute shall be final.
  • At any time after admission, if found that a candidate has not fulfilled one or many of the requirements stipulated by the Institute, or submitted forged certificates, the Institute has the right to revoke the admission and forfeit the fee paid. In addition, legal action may be taken against the candidate as decided by the Board of Management.
Specialization in Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle Technology

M. Tech. Program in Smart Grid and Electric Vehicle Technology is intended to explore the above mentioned challenges and also initiate research activities. This program offers necessary theoretical background with a good blend of applied mathematics along with in depth coverage in analysis of power and energy systems. The core courses comprise sustainable, economic, efficient and reliable energy conversion, generation, transmission, distribution, storage and utilization of electric energy, including application of power electronics in power system operation and control.

Research

Focused Reserach Areas: Centre for Sensors and Process Control (CENSE)

CENSE was established to promote focused research on advanced sensors, smart sensor systems, embedded system, internet of things and intelligentprocess control. The Centre has established two state of the art laboratories in collaboration with Yokogawa and ARM Ltd. to cater the interdisciplinary teaching and research needs of the students and faculty.

Industry involvement in program design and curriculum
